Competitive intelligence answers a narrow question: what are our rivals doing, and what does it mean for us? Teams watch public sources such as pricing pages, release notes, job posts, customer reviews and press coverage. They then sort the signals by importance and send the useful ones to the people who make decisions. Good signals are specific, dated and tied to a decision, such as a price change before a renewal.
Good programs stay focused. A common mistake is to collect everything and act on nothing. Sales teams use the output in battlecards and deal reviews, while product teams use it to judge roadmap gaps. Monitoring tools such as Crayon and Klue automate much of the collection, but a person still has to decide which signals matter.
